It all begins here...

Living history is more than just teaching history. I have not only dressed the parts in Louisiana and American history but I have traveled to all 64 parishes and taken more than 8,000 photographs that are used in class to "tell the stories of Louisiana". Each year I take part in various living history reenactments plus weekend travel to new and different sites around the state. Doing this brings me closer to the history than just reading something out of a textbook.

No, I'm not afraid to "dress the part" during the day as I teach an era in history.

Above are photos from my "Lewis and Clarke" lesson at Tuten Park in Lake Charles. Students got a chance to learn how to navigate by a old fashion compass, make rope from grasses, and eat dried beef.

At the end of last year I taught lessons on colonial America along with weapons, games and stories. At another school I taught about life as an Acadian and taught games from Ft. St. Jean du Natchitoches, along with weaponry. This year I have already taught lessons on French colonial trapping/trading and New Orleans French colonialism of the early 1700s.

I have also traveled the state from Kentwood and Brittany's home to the tiniest Catholic chapel to the tallest state capital.

Mr. E. in his "home away from home", better know as the "South 40".
