History

Oak Park Middle School is a Professional Development School with close ties to McNeese State University.  Oak Park Middle School teachers and staff make it a priority to encourage and support all students in their efforts to achieve excellence in academics, performing arts, and extracurricular activities.  Oak Park Middle offers a varied and comprehensive program that includes outstanding performing and visual arts and rigorous academic programs that meet the educational and developmental needs of the middle school child.

The school's NEST program (New Educational Systems in Technology) allows qualifying students to start earning high school credits in their eighth-grade year and the opportunity to transition to the University Program when they enroll in high school.

Oak Park Middle is a state-certified Spanish Immersion school offering accelerated Spanish language courses which will prepare students to become immersed in the Spanish language.  Our Spanish Immersion students are given the tools to develop a unique foreign language skill set to equip them for success in education and business.

Oak Park Middle School offers competitive sports in football, volleyball, basketball, track and field, and soccer.  Our visual and performing arts department is "second to none."  Students can choose from a variety of enrichments including STEM, ACT Prep, Art, Band, Orchestra, Show and Gospel Choir, Guitar, Drama, and Dance.  The Oak Park Middle student-led clubs (such as: BETA, Student Council, Jr. National Honor Society, and Builders Club) give our students leadership skills that will prepare them to become community leaders and servant-citizens.
