New Educational Systems in Technology

The NEST program is designed to provide students in grades 6-8 with the opportunity to complete a rigorous academic program that is technology-centered and project-based.  The purpose of the program is to provide instruction on the necessary prerequisite skills needed to be successful in future advanced classes.  Through the regular curriculum with an additional emphasis on higher-order thinking skills, abstract reasoning, and critical reading and writing skills, students develop a necessary foundation.  As part of the NEST program, your child can benefit from an academic environment that is 100% committed to his/her academic growth.

The NEST program began in 2008 with our incoming 6th graders as a one-to-one laptop initiative program for academically advanced learners.  Through the development of this program, the 7th and 8th grades were added.  The criteria for students to be selected include a high degree of performance on state-wide tests (LEAP 2025), high classroom performance, and teacher/principal recommendation. At the present time, the NEST program allows students to be part of advanced academic courses in English, Mathematic, Science, and Social Studies as well as World Language, and courses from the high school freshman curriculum.
